The Driver Services Platform trial at Durham Driving Test Centre aims to streamline practical test bookings. The trial involved 14 learners over two days, testing payments, bookings, scheduling and examiner app integration. Local approved driving instructors supported the trial by volunteering their pupils for the test slots. Despite some hiccups, the trial was deemed successful, with results shared with DVLA and licences issued promptly. Future steps include reducing manual input and expanding the trial to cover more test types and requirements.
Why it matters for your car
The new system promises to make the booking process more user-friendly for drivers.
If maintenance uncovers an engine warning light, AutoScan for Windows can read and clear standard fault codes through a compatible ELM327 adapter and show live data and freeze frame information.
